As define, Information Literacy is the ability to know when there is a need for information and to be able to identify, locate, evaluate and effectively use this information for problems, challenges or existing issues at hand.
Information Literacy promotes skepticism, judgment, questioning, free-thinking, and as well as understanding. Information Literacy Programme as practiced and exercised, develops one person’s participation and be active in the society.
Information Literacy Program plays an important role being able to access, evaluate and use information gathered in various creative ways that helps an individual’s to strengthen and empower his/her skills.
The impact of Information Literacy Program changes economy in its best possible ways such as the workforce will be more diverse and global.
As ACP takes part on promoting and strengthening the Information Literacy, it gives importance to students by training them to:
- Determine the extent of Information needed
- Access the needed information effectively and efficiently
- Evaluate information and its sources critically
- Incorporate selected information into one’s knowledge base
- Use information effectively to accomplish a specific purpose
